ScotPac, Australia’s leading non-bank small to medium enterprise (SME) lender, today announced the appointment of Clare Morgan as Chief Executive Officer, effective 2 September 2026, following Jon Sutton’s decision to retire after six years as CEO at the company.
Mr Sutton doubled the ScotPac loan book and tripled its customer base during his tenure. The Board of ScotPac thanked Mr Sutton for his leadership and contribution to the business, stating:
“Jon has led ScotPac through an important period of growth and transformation. The Board thanks Jon for his leadership over the past six years and wishes him the very best for his retirement.”
Ms Morgan brings extensive experience in business lending, having led Business and Private Banking Divisions and Small Business Banking at two of Australia’s major banks. The Board of ScotPac said Ms Morgan’s appointment came at a natural point in ScotPac’s development, as the business prepares for its next phase of growth, stating:
“ScotPac has been supporting Australian businesses for nearly 40 years, giving us deep experience, strong relationships and a unique understanding of the needs of SME customers. The Board is delighted that someone of Clare’s calibre and experience has agreed to lead ScotPac into its next era of growth. Throughout the recruitment process, we were struck by Clare’s passion for small business and her understanding of the role SMEs play in driving employment, innovation and economic growth across Australia.”
As Australia’s leading non-bank SME lender, ScotPac supports approximately 10,000 customers, finances approximately $26B worth of invoice turnover each year and works with an extensive network of introducers nationally. The company sees significant opportunity for continued organic growth as SMEs increasingly seek flexible and fast working capital solutions.
Ms Morgan said she was pleased to join ScotPac at an important point in the company’s history, stating:
“ScotPac has spent nearly 40 years helping Australian businesses access the funding they need to grow, invest and manage their cash flow. Small businesses are the backbone of the Australian economy, and I am committed to working with people and businesses that drive employment, innovation and growth.
“ScotPac has a strong platform, experienced people and deep relationships with customers and introducers. I am looking forward to listening to our customers, people and partners to build on our success and identifying where we can continue to improve the experience we provide.”
