Since 2014, our Brisbane team has been working with Future State Greats – an independent, not-for-profit organisation that raises funds for developing school athletes in need. In January, a few members of the Brisbane office took on the ‘Super Slim Down Challenge’. Obtaining Captain Club Membership gave us a firsthand look at the organisation and its charitable endeavours.

Paul Tonges, Wayne Smith, Greg Fisher and Josh Edwards embarked on a “No Pain, No Gain” adventure of weight loss competing against each other, over the course of 90 days, for the title of “Scottish Pacific Super Slimmer”. At the end of the three-month competition, and after losing a combined 39.9 kilograms, the competitors had raised $1,314.90 on behalf of Scottish Pacific. This figure was then doubled through the organisation’s dollar-for-dollar charity fundraising policy.

FSG Chairman, Ian Healy and Aspirations 4 Kids recipient, Lakeisha Patterson were invited as honoured guests to an afternoon tea and presented with a cheque (pictured) in our QLD boardroom.  The pair met with staff to thank them for their support, discuss the FSG initiative and explained how the $2,629.80 raised will help as many as five Queensland kids to develop their abilities and participate in elite, school sporting competitions. So grateful were FSG for the efforts of the office that they expressed their thanks on the charity’s Facebook page.

In February, the Scottish Pacific team purchased a table, and invited key guests, to attend the ‘Stumped Healy, Bowled Warne’ luncheon. By all accounts the event was a great success; raising much-needed funds for Future State Greats.

Our most recent activation saw a group of QLD staff members give up their Friday night to help FSG raise money through the 50-50 Charity Raffle held during the Brisbane Broncos and Manly Sea Eagles game at Suncorp Stadium. Our staff braved the cold and the crowds to join other volunteers in raising a total prize pool of $23,980, half of which went to FSG and the other half to one lucky ticket-buyer on the night.

Scottish Pacific Accounts Administrator, Sally Drummond, and her husband Matt, must have had Lady Luck on their side as they were the pair that sold the winning ticket.

The Brisbane office certainly looks forward to continuing to support Future State Greats.
